Teeing off

Teeing off

Golf enthusiasts on arrival into Singapore look forward to the year-round tropical climates and perfect conditions. However, most also receive a shock because, despite the huge range of options (Singapore has more holes-per- mile than anywhere else!), the exclusive membership fees and sky high prices can make it a difficult hobby to justify.

The islands of Batam and Bintan, in Indonesia but in close proximity to Singapore, are often cited as cheaper alternatives to the top dollar 18-hole courses on island. You may be wondering if they live up to the high-quality experience you are used to back home. We’ve partnered with Bintan Lagoon Resort to give you a guided tour through a golf day in Bintan, so grab your clubs and let’s take a look at Golf Resorts in Bintan.

1. From the City to the Green in 100 minutes!

Bintan is a short 75-minute ferry ride from Tanah Merah ferry terminal in the east of Singapore. In addition to this short sea leg, Bintan Lagoon Resort provides an express service that minimises your waiting time at the terminal and ensures that your immigration clearance is completed prior to arrival. Meaning you can travel from central Singapore to the golf resorts in Bintan in just 100 minutes.

2. Championship Golf Courses

On arrival at Bintan Lagoon Resort, you can tee off from a choice of exceptional 18-hole courses. Make the most of island life and enjoy stunning sea views from the Jack Nicklaus course or test yourself over dramatically changing terrain on the Woodlands course. The two 18-hole tracks offer challenging layouts with highlights including a split green, steep slopes and rolling mounds that create an amphitheatre effect. Enjoy tee-box panoramas with breath-taking views of the ocean and undulating natural environments.

Both courses offer flexibility to suit players of all abilities. Five different tee locations on each course are designed to introduce casual golfers to an outstanding track whilst challenging and rewarding the seasoned player.

3. Expand your network

A day on the golf track with your friends or business colleagues offers a fantastic bonding experience. Wouldn’t it be great if your go-to golf destination enabled you to easily expand your personal and professional network?

Bintan Lagoon Resorts offers a series of networking events throughout the year, from the President’s Club to the Monthly Medal tournament, for like-minded enthusiasts. Want a customised experience? Corporate packages offering tailored services including a fleet of golf buggies, expert clubhouse staff and excellent practice facilities can also provide the optimal environment for corporate networking.

4. Your personal golf team

Keen to ensure golfers enjoy a fuss free golf experience, a professional Club Manager keeps Bintan Lagoon Resort at the cutting-edge of golf resorts and is on hand to take feedback from members. Golf Carts and Caddies are on hand to make the experience around the track seamless and you don’t even need to carry your clubs to Bintan, with a full rental service available at the resort.

In summary

Short travel time, championship courses, panoramic views and a professional team on hand to support your needs. With Bintan Golf Packages prices snip compared to Singapore, adding Bintan to your list of go-to golf destinations is easy to justify.

Need a quick getaway from Singapore? Try one of these island getaways that are a ferry ride away or these alternatives to Bintan. Bonus: Review of Banyan Tree Bintan!

  • I had no idea that Singapore was such a golf destination! It looks like a beautiful one though.

  • Kevin Wagar

These are some pretty incredible option for golf getaways that you have listed here.

  • Christina

Very interesting! I am not a golfer so I don’t know much at all about which are good or bad courses. I didn’t realize Singapore was such a player in the scene. Good to know there are cheaper alternatives nearby.

    • I’m not really a golfer myself but it’s nice to know there are cheaper options nearby if I ever want to try my hand in golf.

  • Vyjay Rao

Not a golfer, but can see that these Golf courses are indeed beautiful and if they are also a cheaper option then in the mainland, that is a bonus.

  • What a beautiful golf course! This would be a dream getaway for any golfer! It sounds like they’ve got the system down too!

  • I have been to the golf course about a couple of times. I was quite enthralled to see such an amazing place in Indonesia.

  • Jessica

Definitely a good alternative. Price value yet the wideness of greenfield remain that makes it perfect for golf lovers. Indonesia is indeed a paradise for sports (lan or water). Wish to come back in Batam soon.

  • Joe Ankenbauer

I agree with going to Bintan. We would go all the time, mainly to avoid the crowds at the SG courses. However, I’m not a fan of the ones on Batam, I’ve played two and was pretty disappointed. hopefully they’ve changed and I can be pleasantly surprised 🙂

  • Chandi
