Honeymoon destinations in asia main

Southeast Asia boasts hundreds of the best honeymoon resorts with beautiful islands, parks, jungles, forests and hills. These 5 best honeymoon destinations in Asia are not only unique in their location but also extraordinary in service, surroundings and design. This list will definitely answer the question of what are the best honeymoon destinations in Asia.

1. Ubud Hanging Gardens – Bali, Indonesia

The world’s most photographed pool. Source

The world’s most photographed pool is the perfect backdrop for those memorable honeymoon shots. And the best part? You don’t have to pose by the shared hotel pool in front of everyone – although that is the famous split-level one – because each room has its own private pool.

But the honeymoon seal is not just its pool. The resort offers Romantic Temple Dinners on the ancient holy Dalem Segara Temple. A private butler will serve a gourmet dinner followed by a paper lantern release. A local Balinese Priest will chant prayers to wash your soul at the sacred spring and to end the evening off, a foot reflexology massage at the riverside deck will ensure a peaceful sleep.

Here is my review of Hanging Gardens and a virtual tour. Looking for more romantic honeymoon ideas in Bali? Read my complete guide to the best hotels in Bali for more inspiration. To help you out I’ve also written about the Best Cafes in Ubud and about the delicious food at Room 4 Dessert.

Song Saa is a private resort on the paradisiac Koh Rong archipelago named “The Sweethearts” in Khmer language. Can you ask for anything else on your honeymoon?

Koh Rong is seeing increased interest but is still one of Southeast Asia’s best kept secrets. The resorts’ philosophy is perfect for a honeymoon and its origins further strengthen this feeling. The founders decided to build the resort after they came back from their honeymoon in the area so it comes as no surprise that the stunning surroundings so seamlessly blend into romantic dinners.

4. Sri Panwa – Phuket, Thailand

Rooftop bar + Infinity pool

Considered one of the world’s best rooftop bars Sri Panwa’s Baba Nest is one of the most romantic sunsets you will ever watch. Perched on a hilltop, south of Phuket, Sri Panwa’s private villas and infinity pool all have spectacular views.

View from the bar

The resort is a popular destination for newly weds and has managed to maintain a balance between exclusivity and friendliness. Guests are regularly featured on their Facebook page with “Thank you” photos that only reinforce the idea of the resort as a one of the best honeymoon places in Phuket.

5. Soneva Kiri Koh Kood – Thailand

Known for its treetop dining pods the Soneva Kiri Koh Kood embodies the Group’s barefoot luxury motto. Set on a remote island south of Bangkok and only accessible via a private plane it bills itself as “Thailand as it once was”: Uncrowded, genuine and  tranquil.

Treetop dining pod

The resort’s villas are some of the largest in the world and embrace local materials and sustainability. It’s concept of barefoot luxury is just that: no shoes, no rush. Just total relaxation. Romantic moments can be had on the treetop or sharing an ice cream from the resort’s Ice Cream parlour. And if you’re not leaping at the thought of dining in a tree for your honeymoon in Asia, give the Racha a try for another one of the best honeymoon places in Thailand.

Uncrowded, genuine and tranquil

Rates start at US$1,300. For more photos and to check the latest availability visit on Agoda.

BONUS: Nihi Sumba – Indonesia

This was hands down one of my ultimate stays. There are pros and cons of staying in the lap of luxury, but I couldn’t find a more romantic place as the guests are limited so you will most likely have time relaxing together in your own private pool or going on one of the many guided tours and activities. If you’re a surfing couple and want to beat the crowds in Bali, this is the place to go as their is a private beach where only a limited amount of riders are allowed in at a time. It is not cheap though, so start saving now for your special time alone.

Rates for the one bedroom villas start at US$1,350 per day per room and goes up to US$2,250 for the Marangga Suites. See more photos and the latest availability Booking.comAgoda. (Don’t get confused with Nihiwatu Resort in Kuta, Bali)
